Elevator Pitch ("Elevator Pitch," "we," "us," or "our") provides an online platform that connects "Pitchers" seeking to pitch ideas, products, or services with "Decision Makers" who make their time available for paid consultations (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website or use the Service. It applies to all users of the Service, regardless of role.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

a. Information you provide to us

  • Account information: name, email address, password, company name, and the role you select (Pitcher or Decision Maker).
  • Profile information: photo, bio, industry, areas of expertise, availability, rates, and other details you choose to display to other users.
  • Communications: messages sent through the Service, session notes, and any information you submit through our contact or support forms.
  • Payment information:billing details processed by our payment processor, Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe"). We do not store full payment card numbers or bank account numbers on our own servers.

b. Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages viewed, features used, search and filter criteria, session duration, and referring/exit pages.
  • Device and log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and timestamps.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: used to keep you signed in, remember preferences (such as light or dark theme), and understand how the Service is used. See Section 6 ("Cookies and Tracking Technologies") below.
  • Video and audio session data: metadata about scheduled and completed video sessions (such as participants, date, time, and duration), facilitated through our video infrastructure provider, LiveKit. We do not record video calls by default; if call recording is ever offered, it will require the consent of all participants before it is enabled.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and maintain your account and profile;
  • Operate the marketplace, including matching Pitchers with Decision Makers, scheduling sessions, and facilitating video calls and messaging;
  • Process payments, subscriptions, and payouts, and calculate applicable platform fees;
  • Send transactional communications, such as booking confirmations, reminders, and receipts;
  • Send service-related and, where permitted, marketing communications (you may opt out of marketing communications at any time);
  • Monitor, analyze, and improve the performance, security, and functionality of the Service;
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service; and
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:

  • With other users:profile information (such as your name, photo, bio, industry, rates, and availability) is visible to other users as part of the Service's core functionality. Pitchers and Decision Makers who book a session with each other can see information necessary to conduct that session, such as name and contact details within the Service.
  • Service providers: we share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf, including:
    • Supabase for account authentication and database hosting;
    • Stripe for payment processing, subscription billing, and payouts to Decision Makers via Stripe Connect; and
    • LiveKit for real-time video and audio communication infrastructure.
  • Legal and safety: we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Elevator Pitch, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.

4. Payment Processing

All payments, subscription billing, and payouts are processed by Stripe. When you submit payment or banking information, it is transmitted directly to Stripe and is subject to Stripe's privacy policy and terms of service. Decision Makers who wish to receive payouts must complete identity verification through Stripe Connect, which may require providing government-issued identification and bank account information directly to Stripe.

5. Video Calls and Communications

Video and audio sessions between Pitchers and Decision Makers are transmitted using our video infrastructure provider, LiveKit, and are end-to-point facilitated for the duration of the scheduled session. We do not store the content of video or audio sessions unless a recording feature is explicitly enabled and all participants have provided consent. Messages sent through the Service's messaging features are stored to allow you to access your conversation history.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) to:

  • Keep you logged in and maintain your session;
  • Remember your display preferences, such as dark or light theme;
  • Understand aggregate usage patterns so we can improve the Service.

Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may limit your ability to use certain features of the Service, such as staying signed in.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service, comply with our legal obligations (including tax, accounting, and payment recordkeeping requirements), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as financial records related to completed transactions).

8. Your Privacy Rights

a. All users

You may access, update, or delete certain account and profile information at any time through your account settings. You may also contact us using the information in Section 12 to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to ask questions about our data practices.

b. California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (i) know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; (ii) request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions; (iii) correct inaccurate personal information; and (iv) not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than providing the Service.

c. Other state privacy laws

Residents of certain other U.S. states (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and others with comprehensive privacy laws) may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us as described in Section 12. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law.

9. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure, including encryption of data in transit and access controls on our databases. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to, and is not intended for use by, individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete that information.

11. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States and is intended for users located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
